
Suzanne Pleshette, born January 31, 1937, passed away on January 19 in 2008. She was an American film, television and voice actress. 1. Pleshette began her acting career in the theatre and was first seen in films in the late 1950s. She then was featured in films of note like Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), and Spirited Away (2001). She later appeared in various television shows, usually in guest roles, and was Emily Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show from 1972 to 1978, earning several Emmy Award nominations for her work. Pleshette was the daughter of Geraldine (nee Kaplan),[1 and Eugene Pleshette, was born January 31, 1937 in Brooklyn Heights. The parents of the couple were Jewish immigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary. Her mother was an artist, dancer, and choreographer who appeared on stage under the name Geraldine Rivers. Her father was stage director for the Paramount Theater, Manhattan, and the Paramount Theater, Brooklyn.
